Neal Shipley inched closer to earning his PGA Tour card with a third-place finish at the Korn Ferry Tour’s NV5 Invitational at the Glen Club in the Chicago suburb of Glenview.
Shipley shot an 8-under-par 63 in the final round and ended up 23-under 261.
Johnny Keefer won the event, finishing 26-under 258.
The Mt. Lebanon native and Central Catholic grad needs either another victory this season or finish in the top 20 in points to earn the card. He is third in the points standings.
“Something crazy would have to had for me not to earn the card,” Shipley said recently. “I probably could finish last in every event I play and still make it.”
The Greensburg native and Kiski School grad Mark Goetz tied for 41st. He finished 16-under 268. Goetz had an up-and-down four rounds. He shot 8-under 63 in Rounds 1 and 3, and even-par 71 in Rounds 2 and 4.
The Korn Ferry Tour heads to Utah this week.
