Sites, times set for Tuesday’s PIAA 2nd-round basketball games

The second round of the PIAA boys 5A, boys 4A, boys A, girls 6A, girls 3A and girls 2A is set for Tuesday.

Well, nearly set.

The PIAA is expected to make a decision Saturday about the brawl that ended the Meadville vs. Uniontown boys 5A first-round game with over 3 minutes left in the contest.

Meadville was winning 63-55 when a fight erupted in the stands that carried over to the court.

The game was stopped and declared a victory for Meadville.

Now the state is deciding if Meadville will move on or if penalties will force them to forfeit their second-round game against Hershey.

Of the 33 WPIAL boys and girls basketball teams in action Friday in the first round, the boys District 7 teams were a combined 10-7 while the girls went 9-7.
