Sites, times set for Wednesday’s WPIAL basketball quarterfinals

As the WPIAL boys and girls basketball playoffs continue with first-round action Monday and Tuesday, the first night of the second round is set with sites and times.

The district quarterfinals will begin Wednesday with boys Class 4A, A and girls 5A and 3A contests now set.

Here are the sites and times for those second round matchups.

Boys 4A

No. 8 Belle Vernon (14-9) at Quaker Valley (17-3), 7 p.m.

No. 5 Hopewell (15-8) vs. No. 13 Deer Lakes (11-11) at North Allegheny, 6 p.m.

No. 7 Elizabeth Forward (14-8) at No. 2 North Catholic (17-4), 7:30 p.m.

No. 6 Central Valley (15-7) vs. No. 3 Knoch (19-4) at North Allegheny, 7:30 p.m.

Boys A

No. 8 Summit Academy (10-10) vs. No. 1 Neighborhood Academy (18-3) at North Catholic, 6 p.m.

No. 5 Aquinas Academy (9-11) at No. 4 Monessen (11-8), 7 p.m.

No. 7 St. Joseph (8-12) vs. No. 2 Nazareth Prep (8-11) at Fox Chapel, 7:30 p.m.

No. 6 Serra Catholic (11-9) at No. 3 Avella (17-5), 7 p.m.

Girls 5A

No. 9 Trinity (16-6) vs. No. 1 South Fayette (22-1) at Peters Township, 7:30 p.m.
