Several senior WPIAL standouts left their mark at the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association East-West all-star football games Sunday at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field.
In the small school game, Loyalsock QB Tyler Gee hit Hanover’s Joey Wilkinson with a 2-yard TD pass in the final seconds to give the West a 27-24 win.
Southmoreland running back Da’sjon Craggette, a Cal (Pa.) recruit, ran for 127 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown.
Ligonier Valley’s Roger Beitel was the West team’s head coach.
In the big school game, the East defeated the West, 15-14. North Allegheny QB Logan Kushner threw a 28-yard TD pass in the second quarter and ran for a 34-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to put West ahead 14-7. Hempfield kicker Josh Reilly hit both extra points. Kushner’s lost fumble with just over two minutes remaining allowed East to run out the clock.
Kushner threw for 39 yards, ran for 43 and caught a 16-yard pass and was named the West MVP. Canon-McMillan QB Michael Evans threw for 27 yards. Gateway RB Jaquon Reynolds ran for a team-high 46 yards.
The big school game featured players in Class 4A-6A, and the small school game included players in Class A-3A.
The Big 33 Football Classic, pitting senior all-stars from Pennsylvania against counterparts from Maryland, will be played May 26 at Cumberland Valley.
