Even though three former WPIAL players are starting at Pitt and Penn State (Jonathan Baldwin, Mike Shanahan, Derek Moye), the WPIAL hasn't been known for producing many big-time receivers over the years. Maybe it's because having a receiver with a lot of catches doesn't equate to wins in the WPIAL Never has that notion been more true than this year.

CTK 2010 – WPIAL A BLACK HILLS Conference Preview

Over the last 35 years, the WPIAL Class A football scene has been dominated by two conferences, the Big 7 and the Eastern Conference. From 1975 through 2006, the districts champion came from one of those two conferences. However the tide has turned over the last three years as the Black Hills Conference has laid the claim to being home of the WPIAL Class A champs.
