For years many teams have wanted to emulate the Baltimore Ravens defense. After the Ravens D’s performance in the NFL season opener on Sunday, it seems many WPIAL football teams can now say mission accomplished after a night of high scoring with points a plenty. Hometown Softball Program Game Recap For Baldwin vs Bethel Park

The 2013 WPIAL playoffs started a little early Thursday in the South Hills as Baldwin visited Bethel Park in a win-and-your-in battle for third place in Class AAAA Section 4. When all was said and done, youth was served again as the freshmen led Highlanders knocked out the Black Hawks 9-5.Baldwin broke a scoreless tie in the third inning when after Jaimie Schleicher reached on an error, Kayla Ebert's pop fly fell safely when Bethel Park second baseman Julia Sherwin lost it in the sun. Abbey Suhoski tripled home both, then scored on a ground ball to the shortstop.The Highlanders added to their lead in the fourth inning on the first of three triples by Eberst scored Breanna Meyer who led the inning off with a single.

Hometown Softball Program Game Recap For Baldwin Highlanders – 04/24/2013

Youth continues to lead the way for the Baldwin Highlanders on the softball diamond. Tuesday afternoon, the Highlanders won their sixth straight game with a 9-0 whitewash of the four-time defending Pittsburgh City League champion Brashear Bulls.Baldwin struck first in the bottom of the first when Mallory O'Brien drew a one out walk against Bulls starter Miranda Piccolino. She scored on a triple by Kayla Eberst. Eberst scored one out later on an error on Brashear shortstop Anna Bruecken, who's throw to first base was low, allowing Melissa Paterni to be safe as the Highlanders led 2-0.

2013 MSA Sports Hometown Softball Program Salute – Baldwin Highlanders

Youth has been served this spring when it comes to Baldwin softball. The Highlanders have started as many as seven freshman this year and after a slow start, are in the playoff chase in the very competitive Class AAAA Section 4. A year ago, Baldwin made the playoffs for a third straight year, only to lose to North Allegheny in Round One.Baldwin athletic director and former softball coach Vince Sortino provides some information on the 2013 Baldwin Highlanders.

National Letter of Intent Day: Division I-A Signings From WPIAL Class of 2013

It was a down year for top talent coming out of District 7. A year ago, 32 WPIAL football players put their John Hancock to paper and faxed their futures plans to their respective Division I-A schools. On National Letter of Intent Day 2013, only 18 players from the WPIAL took part in the annual process Wednesday morning. Here is a rundown of the players and the Division I-A FBS schools they are now officially headed to.
