Some of the games held great meaning in the district playoff picture, others were just playing for pride. Whether there was intense pressure or with very little at stake, here are the Primetime Performances from the final Friday of the regular season in the WPIAL.Patrick Turner - Kiski Area2012 has been the year of the great turn-around for several programs in the WPIAL, including that of Kiski Area. Patrick Turner helped complete the comeback season, rushing for 101 yards and scoring four touchdowns on three runs and a 61-yard fumble return for a score as the Cavalier, 1-8 in 2011, improved to 4-5 this season by clinching a Class AAAA Foothills Conference playoff spot with a 41-14 victory over the host Latrobe Wildcats.WPIAL Week Eight Friday Night HighLights

Stretch Run high school football action continued with another busy Friday in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Today we focus not just on the biggest numbers put up on the Eighth Friday of this 2012 campaign, but on those top outings in games with big stakes...some ended long postseason droughts while others kept their team alive to fight another week or sealed the deal on one of the top spots in their conference. One and four. When those three words are uttered about a football team after five weeks, it usually indicates bad things. But for Blackhawk and Chartiers-Houston records are indeed deceiving. Blackhawk and Chartiers-Houston are two teams that are usually much more than respectable. You could say both have fallen on hard times this season as both are 1-4. But are there many 1-4 teams as good as Blackhawk and Char-Houston? Blackhawk and Char-Houston are the hard-luck stories of the WPIAL this season. A few points here and there, take away a turnover here and there, and their seasons could be vastly different. Want proof? Three of Blackhawk’s losses are by a total of five points.
