WPIAL Boys and Girls Basketball Realignment for 2013 and 2014

The WPIAL Board of Control Tuesday approved the new basketball alignments for both the boys and girls for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 high school winter sports seasons. Here is the new section break down in each classification for both the boys and the girls.WPIAL schools moving up in class for the next two seasons are New Castle boys, Hampton boys, Trinity boys, Freeport boys, Ellwood City boys, Steel Valley boys, Elderton boys, Bentworth boys, Laurel Highlands girls, Chartiers Valley girls, Southmoreland girls, Brownsville girls, Waynesburg girls, Keystone Oaks girls, Quaker Valley girls, Riverview girls, Chartiers-Houston girls and Fort Cherry girls.

2011 WPIAL Year in Review – Top 25 Stories: #15 – #11

2011 has been a tremendous year in high school sports in the WPIAL. It was a year where some familiar champions wore the golden crown again while some new faces surfaced in the championship picture. Golden Weekend in Hershey for WPIAL Doubles and Singles Tennis Girls

Hershey is known world wide as Chocolate Town, USA. However on Saturday to five WPIAL girls tennis players, Hershey became the Golden City. District 7 players swept the doubles titles and also won gold in the Class AAA singles tournament in the 2011 PIAA Girls Doubles and Singles Tennis Championships.

2011 WPIAL Girls Team Tennis Playoffs Update

Dancing through the rain drops, the WPIAL Girls Team Tennis Playoffs are through the First Round in Class AA and is through the Quarterfinals in Class AAA. Here are the results from Thursday plaus the matchups for the Semifinals in AAA and the Quarterfinals in AA as Shady Side Academy and Quaker Valley continue their quest of serving up a repeat of their golden crowns from a year ago.

Plum’s Yurovsky and Brownsville’s Shashura Win WPIAL Girls Singles Tennis Finals

A couple of seniors captured their third WPIAL tennis crowns Friday afternoon at the Glen Creek Tennis Club in Library. Making her fourth consecutive title trip, Plum's Ronit Yurovsky captured a third straight Class AAA championship with a straight set victory over Taylor Perz of Pine-Richland.

CTK 2011 – 2010 WPIAL Class AA Football Flashback
South Fayette enjoyed a breakout season in 2009. They went undefeated in the regular season and captured the Class AA Century Conference championship. However their season came to a bitter end in a wild shootout loss to Aliquippa in the WPIAL Quarterfinals. That nightmare finish in 2009 though led to a golden dream season in 2010.
