The Foothills has become the not-so-golden conference in Class AAAA. With North Allegheny ending the Northern Seven championship drought in 2010, attention turns to the Foothills Conference. It had been two decades since one of the WPIAL Class AAAA's top football programs had won a district championship. However that drought ended when North Allegheny captured gold by beating the 2009 champion Woodland Hills Wolverines in the WPIAL finals at Heinz Field. The 2011 WPIAL softball season is set to begin on Friday, March 25th. The Woodland Hills boys basketball team is headed to the WPIAL playoffs for the first time in 11 years. If you watch the Wolverines in the playoffs, you'll see some North Allegheny in them.
