The Keystone Conference and its futility in the postseason made the conference an easy object of many jokes over the past decade. But you can’t knock the Keystone Conference this year. Why? Because it’s gone. With the new WPIAL alignment, there are only three conferences in Class AAA now instead of four. The teams that were in the Keystone Conference were absorbed into the Big Nine and Greater Allegheny conferences. The Big Nine loses Chartiers Valley, South Park and McGuffey. Chartiers Valley moved to the Parkway Conference while South Park and McGuffey dropped to Class AA.WPIAL Hires, Resignations and Commitments

Even though the school doors are locked and the student-athletes are preparing for a new school year, there has been plenty of news in the first couple weeks of July with athletic directors and coaches on the move as well as players making D-I verbal agreements.Butschle Steps Down at Sto-RoxThe 2011 WPIAL Class A runner-up is looking for a new coach just one month before training camp officially opens up. Ron Butschle's second stint as head coach at Sto-Rox has ended when he resigned due to personal reasons.Butschle, who led the Vikings to an undefeated regular season last fall and a berth in the district title game, hopes to coach again some day, but a family situation has forced him to step away at least for the 2012 season.Montour Blanks EF For 2nd WPIAL AAA Softball Crown in 3 Years

At the University of California of PA in the WPIAL girls AAA Softball Championships, the Montour Spartans defeat the Elizabeth Forward Warriors by a score of 7-0 to claim their second title in the last three years.They put on a hitting display and kept the foot on the gas making sure the Warriors could not come back late in the game.The scoring started for the Spartans in the 3rd inning as the number nine hitter, Junior Alyssa McMurtrie led off with a line drive home run to CF to make it 1-0. One out later Megan Vacco started a string of three straight singles, the other two by Kaitlyn Kutchman, and Alllison Hryadil and they led 2-0.The score grew to 4-0 Spartans in the 5th as Tori Roman and Stephanie Seibert singled then Olivia Dixon reached on an error.Hometown Softball Program Game Recap – Elizabeth Forward – 04/27/2012
