With the WPIAL Team Wrestling Playoffs starting next week, the steering committee got a hand Wednesday night with the team sectionals taking place at seven different sites. The brackets are out for the 2011 WPIAL Boys Soccer Playoffs that begin on Monday, October 24th and continue through to the finals on Supper Soccer Saturday on 11/5/11.2011 WPIAL GIRLS SOCCER PLAYOFFS – 10/19
The brackets are out for the 2011 WPIAL Girls Soccer Playoffs that begin on Saturday, October 22nd and continue through to the finals on Supper Soccer Saturday on 11/5/11. As much as the teams change in the MAC, some things remain the same...Aliquippa, Beaver Falls and Beaver are all favored in the conference going into 2011.But will there be another feel-good story from the Midwestern this season? South Fayette enjoyed a breakout season in 2009. They went undefeated in the regular season and captured the Class AA Century Conference championship. However their season came to a bitter end in a wild shootout loss to Aliquippa in the WPIAL Quarterfinals. That nightmare finish in 2009 though led to a golden dream season in 2010.CTK 2011 – WPIAL 7:00pm Kickoffs
There are 126 schools in the WPIAL that field a high school football team. While a majority still begin at 7:30pm, 38 of them now kickoff their home games at 7:00pm, including the enire Class AAA Keystone Conference. After a year as runner-up, Riverside is back on top of the WPIAL Class AA Boys Team Track & Field hill. The Panthers beat out Washington, South Fayette and Freedom Thursday afternoon at West Mifflin High School to win a fourth WPIAL championship in the last five years. Meanwhile, Hempfield edged North Allegheny, Mount Lebanon and Baldwin to win the Class AAA title.
