Hempfield and Riverside Take Titles in 2011 WPIAL Boys Track & Field Team Championships

After a year as runner-up, Riverside is back on top of the WPIAL Class AA Boys Team Track & Field hill. The Panthers beat out Washington, South Fayette and Freedom Thursday afternoon at West Mifflin High School to win a fourth WPIAL championship in the last five years. Meanwhile, Hempfield edged North Allegheny, Mount Lebanon and Baldwin to win the Class AAA title.Butler and Freeport are Golden in 2011 WPIAL Girls Track & Field Team Championships
The Butler girls track and field team are the golden girls...again! The Golden Tornado captured back-to-back WPIAL Girls Class AAA Team Track and Field crown by beating Hempfield, Norwin and Butler Thursday afternoon at West Mifflin High School. The WPIAL Baseball Coaches Association (WBCA) has announced that Rocco Amendola, a senior at Norwin High School, is the recipient of the third annual John Challis Memorial Award.
