Welcome to Week 9 of the high school football season. Friends of Chick’s Picks held the first annual Pumpkin Carve-nival this week to get in the Halloween spirit. The Pumpkin Carve-nival, as it had been dubbed, was not your average pumpkin-carving party. This is it, week nine and we will wrap up a fabulous 2011 WPIAL football regular season this weekend and pack our bags to get on the Highway to Heinz next Friday night. BGH salutes all the players, fans, and coaches from the 2011 season whether they will be on the “Highway” next week or not. Here are the MSA Sports Top Ten WPIAL football rankings following Week Eight of the 2011 high school football season. This is the final rankings of the 2011 regular season. This weekend, we will rank the Top 16 playoff teams in each classification here on the MSA Sports Network.WPIAL CLASS AAAA:2011 WPIAL FIELD HOCKEY PLAYOFFS
Three of the four finalists this year have DOMINATED the district field hockey playing field since the sports inception in 1994. Between 2010 champions North Allegheny in AAA, Ellis School in AA and Shady Side Academy, the three programs have won 25 of a possible 31 WPIAL field hockey titles. The brackets are out for the 2011 WPIAL Girls Soccer Playoffs that begin on Saturday, October 22nd and continue through to the finals on Supper Soccer Saturday on 11/5/11.
