The high school football focus in Southwestern Pennsylvania was on Heinz Field in Pittsburgh Saturday as District 7 held their four championship games in the big house on the North Shore. Semi-finals week is here and man oh man a lot of chalk out there, no seeds any worse than a five remaining in any of the four classifications. Last year, Central Valley was the perfect bracket-buster as they took their 14th-seed and raced off to a district title in their first year of existence. 32 have exited the Highway to Heinz while 32 others are rambling on toward the round two exit. There were very few surprises in the First Round as only four double-digit seeds were victorious. #10 Hopewell in Class AAA, #13 Ellwood City in AA and a pair of #11-seeds - South Fayette in AA and Fort Cherry in A were able to keep their long-shot title hopes alive through the opening weekend.
