Hampton Talbots Golden in Winning PIAA AA Boys Soccer State Crown

The only WPIAL boys soccer team to make it to the PIAA finals has returned home with a state championship. The Hampton Talbots outlasted District 12 champion Archbishop Wood Friday night to win the schools second boys soccer state crown. The most painful loss for a WPIAL high school football player could be losing a Semifinals game. Sure, it stinks to lose in a title game, but the lasting memories of just playing at Heinz Field in a District 7 championship contest makes the pain easier to deal with. It was Semifinals Friday around District 7. 16 teams entered Friday's action with dreams of playing at the big house next Saturday dancing in their heads, however those dreams only became reality for eight of those football teams. A pair of top-seeds and a second-seed captured gold on Super Soccer Saturday. Both Seton-LaSalle in Class A and Hampton in Class AA enjoyed dominating victories while it took Peters Township two overtimes to win the Class AAA thriller, the Indians second title in three years. The district girls soccer championships are in the books with three new champions crowned on Super Soccer Saturday at both Baldwin and Elizabeth Forward High Schools. Both Peters Township in AAA and Shady Side Academy in A captured girls soccer crowns for the first time in school history, while Mars continued its perfect season by winning a second district AA championship and first since 2000.
