Each week during the regular season, MSA Sports will rank the top ten baseball teams in the WPIAL in all four classifications every Monday at www.MSAsports.net While the first pitch to the 2012 season was thrown this past Friday, section play doesn't start for most district teams until next week. Welcome to Week 9 of the high school football season. Friends of Chick’s Picks held the first annual Pumpkin Carve-nival this week to get in the Halloween spirit. The Pumpkin Carve-nival, as it had been dubbed, was not your average pumpkin-carving party. It was the final tune up for most teams before conference play begins in the third week of the WPIAL football season...unless you play in the Class A Eastern or Tri-County South Conference...then it is section play and business as usual. The first pitch of the 2011 WPIAL baseball season is set to be tossed on Friday, March 25th. While there were no state champions from the district in 2010, Pine-Richland, Hopewell, Beaver Falls and Serra Catholic now begin defense of their WPIAL titles.
