The Parkway Conference in Class AAA and the Eastern Conference in Class A were both 4-0 in WPIAL first-round football playoff games last week. That is impressive, but not unheard of in the WPIAL. A lawyer working at a firm in California happened to be a huge Texas Rangers fan. Two of the four playoff teams from the WPIAL Class A Big Seven Conference in 2009 are no longer in the conference, with Monaca ending their program and Laurel moving up to the Class AA Midwestern Conference. Meanwhile, a couple of big name coaches have resurfaced in Jim Rankin and Art Tragesser while Ray Braszo is going back to the future.
