However that drought ended when North Allegheny captured gold by beating the 2009 champion Woodland Hills Wolverines in the WPIAL finals at Heinz Field. Three amateur hockey players from the Pittsburgh area were selected among the first 64 players selected in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft on Friday and Saturday at the XCel Energy Center in Minnesota. MSA Sports has just concluded its 12th season of high school sports coverage in Western Pennsylvania ten years under the Management Science Associates umbrella. Another anniversary of sorts is coming Friday with the announcement of the 10th MSA Sports Male and Female Athletes of the Year.
