District College Football Recap for Saturday, September 29th

A busy week in district college football as the PSAC took a break from divisional games for crossover action, the PAC saw some wild finishes and Saint Francis and Duquesne met for the 99th time in the NEC.Here are recaps of all the games played Saturday:Kutztown 56 - Slippery Rock 49 SRU lost it's 2nd straight game, fumbling 5 times, which led to 28 Kutztown points and a victory for the Golden Bears at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium on Saturday night. QB Nigel Barksdale made his first career start and figured in on 5 Rock touchdowns in the loss. Kevin Morton returned to the Kutztown lineup and threw 4 touchdown passes, the Golden Bears led 42-21 at the half.

After just two weeks of divisional play, the PSAC returns with a crossover week while the PAC has four conference games on tap as W & J looks to keep pace with Waynesburg and Geneva looks to avoid their worst start since 1978.Here are previews of ALL the games, tune back on Sunday for complete recaps:Kutztown(1-3) at Slippery Rock(2-2)  6pm on WISR 680-AM and the MSA Sports Network It's a rematch of last year's PSAC title game, won by Kutztown 21-14. That is the only win in 9 meetings between the teams for the Golden Bears.

Conference play continues, including a battle for the top spot in the PSAC West in the Coal Bowl as IUP and Cal square off.Here are previews of ALL the games, recaps coming your way Sunday morning:Slippery Rock(2-1) at Mercyhurst(2-1)  1pm on WISR 680-AM and the MSA Sports Network The Rock got great defense in a win over Gannon last week at home. Isaiah Coleman picked off two passes and led the team with 12 tackles, the sophomore was named PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week. The defense picked off 4 passes and made 3 sacks in a 38-18 win.Also, the SRU defense is tied for the D-II lead in team interceptions with 8.

When Demetrious Cox graduated from Jeannette in June and headed to Michigan State, the Jayhawks’ football team lost a big-time player. But Jeannette hasn’t lost the ability to make big plays. Take a look at the first two weeks of the season and what Jeannette has done in the big-play department is on the surreal side. Granted, the competition has been weak (Charleroi and Southmoreland), but Jeannette’s big-play ability has been magnificent. The Jayhawks are acting like a bunch of “big” shots. In two games, Jeannette (2-0) has scored 14 touchdowns (three passing, 10 running and one on a punt return), and the average length of those touchdowns is 36.7 yards. The Jayhawks have six scoring plays of 40 yards or more.
