Shenango senior Brad Thornton claimed his first individual championship, firing a one-over par 73 to win the WPIAL Boys Division II Golf Championships at the New Castle Country Club on Monday afternoon. South Fayette enjoyed a breakout season in 2009. They went undefeated in the regular season and captured the Class AA Century Conference championship. However their season came to a bitter end in a wild shootout loss to Aliquippa in the WPIAL Quarterfinals.
