It was a rare season in the WPIAL in terms of points. Three players averaged 30 points or more for the first time in at least 25 years. There is plenty of silver to be found in Southwestern Pennsylvania following the state basketball championships at Penn State University. Mount Lebanon in AAAA, Montour in AAA, Greensburg Central Catholic in AA and Lincoln Park in A all lost in the state finals in Happy Valley, three of them fell to District 12 powers while Mount Lebanon lost to the District 1 champs.Scholastic Notebook – 03/11/2011

One top high school basketball player has returned from a concussion and another important player might be returning. West Mifflin senior C.J. Hester, who averages 18 points a game, played in a PIAA Class AAA play-in game Tuesday night and was a key factor in the Titans' 66-36 victory against Bradford. 2011 turns into the yeaqr of virgin winners.
