The Birdie expects sweet victory for Jeannette in Hershey

In the spirit of the NFL's dance-dance-revolution era, where what happens in between the touchdowns and extra points seems more important than the touchdowns themselves, the Birdie is celebrating with a little pizazz.
“I have a reason to celebrate,” said the Birdie, Westmoreland County's first-year prep football expert. “Well, two. I not only told you Jeannette would beat Farrell to advance to the state finals, but I also told you Robert ‘Poogie' Kennedy would catch his first touchdown of the season. I went for two and made it. Boom and boom.”
Birdie stands on his desk, wraps himself in aluminum foil all the way to his head and puts a white towel over his head and lets it hang downward.
“I'm a Hershey's Kiss,” he says, for only the office custodian to hear. “Jeannette knows what I'm talking about. Poogie, I see you with those yellow gloves. Nice of you to represent for me.”
The custodian tries to sweep the big candy wrapper into a dust pan, but the Birdie stops him and explains he was just doing his touchdown celebration.
“Nice,” the custodian says. “Now do some work. Is Jeannette going to win or what?”
Jeannette lines up in an empty set again this week as Westmoreland's last team standing, and the Birdie is calling for more celebrating by the Jayhawks.
“They have come too far,” he said. “It'll be hugs and kisses — get it? Kisses.
“Oh well, Jeannette, save me some sweets. Thanks for another great season. Oh, by the way, you're welcome.”
Jeannette (14-1) vs. Homer-Center (13-1)
Homer-Center is a power running team that will try to play keep away from Jeannette, but the Jayhawks will use big plays and a pass rush to build a cushion at Hersheypark Stadium.
Jeannette, 20-12
