Thomas Jefferson, North Catholic advance to WPIAL volleyball finals

The Thomas Jefferson girls volleyball is heading to the WPIAL championship match for the first time in four years after earning a 3-1 victory over No. 10 Elizabeth Forward in the Class AAA semifinals Thursday night at Norwin.

The No. 3 Jaguars won by scores of 25-22, 18-25, 25-22 and 25-20.

The Jaguars will play Knoch in the championship match at 4 p.m. Saturday at Fox Chapel.

Class AA

North Catholic 3, Serra Catholic 0 — Alana Felix had 17 kills and Dominique Felix added 15 as No. 2 North Catholic defeated No. 3 Serra Catholic in the WPIAL Class AA semifinals at North Allegheny, 25-20, 25-20, 25-20.

The Trojanettes will play No. 4 Frazier in the championship match at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fox Chapel.

Both teams have qualified for the PIAA playoffs.
