Norwin won’t start the season as the No. 1 ranked girls soccer team team in the nation like it did a year ago, but the Knights made Top Drawer Soccer’s preseason rankings again.
Rattled by the departure of one of its best senior classes, Norwin is No. 42 and joins two other WPIAL teams in the top 50 . Peters Township is No. 21 and Pine-Richland checks in at No. 24.
Norwin went 21-2-1 and won the PIAA Class 4A championship after finishing second to Penn-Trafford in the WPIAL.
The Knights bring back defenders Maddie Genicola (Duquesne) and Eva Frankovic (Pitt), among other key players.
Peters Township (15-4) and Pine-Richland (16-2-1) were WPIAL quarterfinalists. Midfielder Regan LaVigna, a Youngstown State recruit and forward Hannah Stuck (Bucknell) are set to return for Peters Township, while forwards Megan Donnelly and Allie Malobicky are back for Pine-Richland.
Three other Pennsylvania teams are ranked: Episcopal Academy (13), Pennsbury (26) and Parkland (45).
