The 2025 PIAA softball playoffs are set after the unveiling of the brackets Friday.
There are 18 WPIAL teams participating in the six tournaments with as many as four district teams in the Class 2A and 5A playoffs and only one representative in Class 6A.
There were two PIAA champions from District 7 last year.
Thomas Jefferson won it all in 5A last spring but did not qualify this season.
Neshannock looks to repeat in Class 2A and could win state gold for the third time in four years. The Lancers are No. 2 all-time on the district list of PIAA softball crowns with three, trailing only Hempfield at four.
The only other defending state champs to qualify for the 2025 postseason are North Penn in 6A, looking for a third straight crown, and DuBois Central Catholic in Class A.
