One of the top AAU girls basketball tournaments in the country will play out Saturday and Sunday at 25 gyms throughout WPIAL territory.

The event is hosted by the local Western PA Bruins and will feature more than 250 teams — several thousand players — with out-of-state teams coming in from Indiana, Georgia, Ohio, New York and Canada. The Bruins will have 20 teams competing.

North Allegheny, Obama Academy, Plum, Seneca Valley, Penn Hills, North Hills, Shaler and Petersen Events Center are among the host sites.

Several top-tier prospects will be here for the tournament.

The Bruins also will showcase some of their top players. North Catholic juniors Kylee Lewandowski and Tess Myers will play, as will Megan McConnell of Chartiers Valley, junior Jayla Wehner of Norwin, Penn-Trafford junior Bella Long and North Allegheny sophomore Lizzy Groetsch.

Several of those girls are mulling Division I offers.

The junior Elite Division will be played at North Allegheny and the top sophomores division will be contested at North Hills and Shaler.

The playoffs will be Sunday and the top-bracket finals will be at North Allegheny.

Teams, divisions, sites and schedule can be found here. Scroll to the bottom of the web page for details.
