The start of the “Stretch Run” of the high school football regular season was business as usual for the top six teams in both the big and small school power rankings.
However, there was some shuffling of the deck in the bottom four in this week’s Trib 10.
In the small school rankings, No. 7 Western Beaver being stunned by Mohawk was the only loss among the 10 ranked teams. The upset dropped the Golden Beavers to the No. 10 position with no other changes.
However, three of the four big school bottom ranked teams lost, dropping Mars two spots and forcing New Castle and Norwin out of the power rankings as quickly as they came in.
The two new teams in the big school rankings are Moon and a return to the Trib 10 for McKeesport.
The beat goes on for Central Catholic and Avonworth, as they continue to sit atop their respective rankings.
There are three head-to-head matchups between ranked teams in Week 8.
Among the big schools, No. 3 Pine-Richland hosts No. 4 North Allegheny, and No, 5 Upper St. Clair visits No. 10 Moon.
On the small school side, the much anticipated battle for the Class 3A Interstate Conference crowns takes place when No. 5 Elizabeth Forward travels to No. 8 Southmoreland.
Here is the latest Trib 10 big school and small school power rankings with overall record and last week’s ranking.
