Trib HSSN high school football players to watch in Week 1

Here are four WPIAL football players to watch for during Week 1:

Ben Jackson

West Greene, Sr., RB/LB

After running for 253 yards and six scores on just 15 carries Monday night in a win over Cameron, W.Va., Jackson will try for an encore against Bentworth on Friday night.

John Milcic

Brentwood, Sr., QB/FS

Milcic got off to an impressive start last week, throwing for 321 yards and three touchdowns. He did throw three interceptions in the Spartans’ loss to Keystone Oaks. Brentwood plays at South Allegheny on Friday.

Zack Rocco

North Catholic, Sr., QB/LB

After throwing for 1,965 yards and 26 touchdowns last season, Rocco (6-3, 225) leads North Catholic into a promising season. The Trojans open Friday against Burrell.

Chinua Solomon

Aliquippa, Sr., WR/DB

Solomon was a key factor in Aliquippa’s Week Zero win at Clairton last week. He had seven catches for 150 yards and two scores. He will lead the Quips into battle this Friday against Waynesburg for the Class 3A Tri-County West opener.
