The top girls basketball teams from last week’s Trib HSSN state rankings teams fared pretty well in the PIAA quarterfinals.
Only five teams lost their spot in the top 5, but at this time of year, they have lost it for good following a season-ending loss.
It was a 50-50 proposition, though, for the six top-ranked teams from a week ago. Three remain on top and three dropped out of the chase for state gold in the quarterfinals.
Hazleton, Scranton Prep and Kennedy Catholic all fell from No. 1 to 5, being replaced on top by Perkiomen Valley in 6A, Audenreid Charter in 4A and Berlin-Brothersvalley in 2A.
The three teams that remain at No. 1 heading into the PIAA semifinals are Peters Township in 5A, Loyalsock Township in 3A and Bishop Guilfoyle in A.
