For the most part, the Trib HSSN football rankings held true on state semifinals weekend.

Five of the six top-ranked teams were victorious and will be playing for a PIAA championship this week in Mechanicsburg.

The lone exception was in Class A where No. 1 Fort Cherry lost big to District 9 champion Port Allegany.

The No. 2-ranked teams also enjoyed success, going a combined 4-2. The lone exceptions were Pine-Richland in 5A and Danville in 3A, which both lost to top-ranked teams.

There will be state title games Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Chapman Field at Cumberland Valley.
