All was quiet on the western front … as well as the central and eastern fronts as many of the elite teams across the state enjoyed district playoff byes last weekend.
However, that is about to change big time this week with only two ranked teams off, compared to the 13 teams that did not play on the first weekend of November.
Thus, there was very little movement in this week’s Trib HSSN state rankings. Only Montour dropping out of the 4A rankings, replaced by Shamokin, disturbed the calm waters of the Top 5.
Little movement overall means the top teams remain the same with LaSalle College in 6A, Chester in 5A, Lampeter-Strasburg in 4A, Northwestern Lehigh in 3A, Troy in 2A and Fort Cherry in Class A all still at the head of the class.
The rankings are guaranteed to look different next week, though, with several tough tests as the district playoff continue, plus two head-to-head showdowns.
A monster matchup is set for a spot in the District 12 Class 6A finals as No. 1 LaSalle College battles No. 2 St. Joe’s Prep.
In Class 4A, a spot in the WPIAL title game is up for grabs as defending state champion Aliquippa goes up against state power Thomas Jefferson.
Here are the latest Trib HSSN rankings in each of the six classifications. Teams are listed with overall record, last week’s ranking and district.
