It should be no surprise that the elite high school football teams in the state remain hot since we are still in the waning days of summer.

There were not a lot of surprises in the Top 5 from last week. In fact, the only team to drop out of the state rankings was Thomas Jefferson in 4A after it lost to Class 3A No. 2 Avonworth.

Two District 12 teams, St. Joe’s Prep in 6A and Roman Catholic in 5A, slipped down a notch after losing to teams from Maryland.

The only other team to fall was Class 2A No. 1 Richland, which fell to District 6 rival Bishop McCort and dropped from No. 1 to No. 5.

That was the only change at the top from last week as remaining at No. 1 are LaSalle College in 6A, Peters Township in 5A, Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast in 4A, Northwestern Lehigh in 3A and Fort Cherry in A with Troy taking over the top spot in 2A.

Here are the latest Trib HSSN rankings in each of the six classifications. Teams are listed with overall record last week’s ranking and district.
