After a week of turmoil and surprises in the Top 5, the elite teams in the state got their mojo back in a big way in Week 2.
With two ranked teams not playing, the other 28 teams were a combined 27-1 in the first weekend of September.
The only team to fall was the No. 5 team in Class 3A, Penn Cambria. Its loss opened the door for Imani Christian to claim a spot this week.
This week’s battle between ranked teams takes place in the WPIAL as Class 4A No. 2 Thomas Jefferson visits Class 3A No. 2 Avonworth.
A week after four of the six top-ranked teams lost and dropped, the new No. 1 teams held their ground this past weekend.
So heading into Week 3, the strong six at the top remain LaSalle College in 6A, Peters Township in 5A, Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast in 4A, Northwestern Lehigh in 3A, Richland in 2A and Fort Cherry in A.
