There were some tweaks and small changes in five of the six classifications through the quarterfinals of the PIAA softball playoffs, and then there was Class 5A.

All five teams from last week’s post-district playoffs Trib HSSN state softball rankings were bounced in either the opening round or the second round of the state playoffs, leading to hockey-like wholesale line changes.

Class A and 6A saw two teams fall out for good while one team exited the state softball rankings in 4A, 3A and 2A.

One of those bounced in 5A was top-ranked Central Mountain, now replaced this week by Greencastle-Antrim.

One other top-ranked team saw its season end as it fell from No. 1 to No. 5. Sharon in Class 3A was replaced by Bald Eagle.

The other top-ranked teams continue into the state final four with Hempfield in 6A, Valley View in 4A, Neshannock in 2A and Claysburg-Kimmel in A still at No. 1.
