Some districts across the state began the softball playoffs this week while others get underway this upcoming week.

While the countdown to the state softball playoffs in now weeks away, the elite teams from across the state are looking good with little movement in the weekly Trib HSSN state softball rankings from a week ago.

Only three teams lost their grip on a top 5 spot and dropped out.

Knoch in Class 4A, Saint Mary’s in 3A and Montgomery in A were bumped, replaced by Athens, Lake-Lehman and Curwensville.

There was some shuffling in the middle of the pack, but the top-ranked teams remained the same from last week with South Western in 6A, Central Mountain in 5A, Northwestern Lehigh in 4A, Sharon in 3A, Neshannock in 2A and Carmichaels in A all still at No. 1.
