Westinghouse rolls past Meyersdale in PIAA 1st round

Having not played since the City League championship game Oct. 25, Westinghouse shook off three weeks of rust and routed District 5 champion Meyersdale, 44-0, in the PIAA Class A football first round Friday night.
Jordan Reid returned two punts for touchdowns for the Bulldogs (7-4), a 57-yarder on their first touch of the game and a 61-yarder in the third quarter. DeJheerit Mellix ran an interception back 80 yards for a score late in the first quarter.
The loss ended an eight-game winning streak for Meyersdale (11-2).
Quarterback Omar Pack ran for a 15-yard touchdown and three two-point conversions for Westinghouse. K-Shawn Hawkins scored on a 53-yard run in the first quarter and Dameon Hill added a 5-yard TD run in third quarter.
Westinghouse will face District 6 champ Bishop Guilfoyle in the quarterfinals next weekend at a date, time and site to be determined.
