What was it like winning the PIAA Foundation race, and what did it take to earn the victory?

It was an amazing feeling winning Foundation, but it was better knowing my team won also. It took patience. I knew if I went out too hard the race wouldn’t have gone how I wanted due to the difficulty of the course.

Are you peaking at the right time?

I cannot really say if I am peaking at the right time. To me, it is all mental, and I focus on every step forward. I hope I continue to grow throughout the season.

You mentioned previously about starting fast but have relied on conserving energy to emerge from the pack. How has this strategy worked out?

That has definitely been my goal throughout the season. It has worked out. I know I am a strong runner; I may not be the fastest, but I have the strength to keep me going.

What will it take to win WPIAL and PIAA team titles?

We just have to keep putting in the work, time and enjoy the process. I think with our team it is not just about winning; We care about each other so much.

What goes through your mind before, during and after a race?

God is really the only thing that I focus on. I wouldn’t be here if it was not for him. His strength has pushed me and brought me to where I am. So, all the time I am just thanking him.

Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Do you enjoy training as much as competing?

For cross country I enjoy training more than competing. But in track I enjoy competing more than training.

What is the best advice coach Brian Fleckenstein has given to you?

The best advice coach Fleck has given has just been showing me that there is no pressure on me. I just have to run my race. It helps me just to stay calm and not overthink running.
