Westmoreland County football players to watch in 2023 Week 2

Player of the week

Ahmad Ward

Derry, Sr., RB/LB

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound senior had a huge game in helping Derry end its 20-game losing streak last week. He rushed for 191 yards and scored on runs of 9, 4 and 30 yards. He also returned an interception a school-record 100 yards for a touchdown. He also intercepted a second pass to end another Greensburg Salem drive.

Players to watch

Kyle Dupill

Franklin Regional, Jr., RB

The 5-6, 200-pound junior scored on touchdown runs of 14 and 31 yards in the third quarter and rushed for 115 yards to help the Panthers defeat Latrobe, 28-21, last week.

TyVaughn Kershaw

Monessen, So., RB

The slick 5-8, 180-pound sophomore has rushed for 215 yards and three touchdowns this season for the Greyhounds. He scored twice against Washington and once last week at Cornell. He rushed for more than 1,300 yards as a freshman.

Ja’Tawn Williams

Latrobe, Sr., WR/DB

The 6-1, 170-pound senior had another big game last week. He caught a 62-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and returned a kickoff 99 yards for a score in the second quarter. He finished with four catches for 124 yards.
