Westmoreland County football players to watch in Week 1

Nick Leopold

Franklin Regional, sr., WR/SS

Leopold was injured in Game 2 last season. He returns for his senior season and would like to have the same type of season his brother Nate had last year. He will be one of the main receivers for quarterback Adam Rudzenski.

Isaiah Winters

Jeannette, jr., WR/CB

Winters will be counted on to split the playmaking duties in the Jayhawks offense. In the opener against East Allegheny, He rushed for a touchdown and caught three passes for 35 yards and a score. Last season, Winters rushed for 198 yards, caught 13 passes for 218 yards and scored five touchdowns.

Lucas Pieszak

Mt. Pleasant, sr., QB/S

Pieszak will be counted on to lead the Vikings this year. In the opener against Southmoreland, an 18-14 loss, Pieszak completed 10 of 22 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-foot-4 senior completed 69 of 130 passes for 1,011 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior.

Aaren Putt

Greensburg Salem, jr., RB/DB

Putt will be counted on to balance the Golden Lions running game. He rushed for 85 yards on nine carries and a touchdown against rival Hempfield last week. Putt scored on a 44-yard run to open the game. He caught five passes for 31 yards, rushed for 411 yards and scored five TDs last season.
