Westmoreland County high school football players to watch for 2024 Week 6

Player of the week

Anthony Smith

Southmoreland, fr., QB

The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder threw for a career-high 296 yards and four touchdowns in the Scotties’ 31-14 victory against Derry last week. Smith has thrown for 1,276 yards and 15 touchdowns this season and will lead Southmoreland into a key Interstate Conference matchup with Yough this week.

Players to watch

Elijah Bennett

Franklin Regional, sr., WR/CB

Bennett (6-2, 180 pounds) leads the Panthers with four touchdown catches. He has nine catches for 274 yards this season. He has also intercepted a pass and knocked down six others.

Max Doherty

Derry, so., RB/OLB

Doherty (5-9, 180) rushed for 44 yards, giving him 137 on the season, and caught a 12-yard pass against Southmoreland last Friday and was also in on numerous tackles.

Ethan Septak

Penn-Trafford, sr., C

The 6-foot, 265-pound Septak is a two-year starter at center and an all-conference performer. He anchors the Warriors’ offensive line and helps pave the path for running back Tasso Whipple.
