Westmoreland County high school notebook: Moe Rosensteel Award winner to be revealed Monday

The winner of the sixth Moe Rosensteel Most Outstanding Player of the Year for the top girls soccer player in the WPIAL will be announced at 5 p.m. Monday via social media.
The finalists are Morgan Gesinski (Jr., F, Mt. Pleasant), Molly Kubistek (Jr., GK, Peters Township), Emily McKee (So., F, Fox Chapel) and Robin Reilly (Sr., MF, Latrobe).
Huss commits
Derry senior Jane Huss, model of consistency as a three-sport athlete, announced she will continue her track and cross country careers at Slippery Rock.
Huss, who also plays basketball, specializes in middle- and long-distance races — 1,600, 3,200, 800 and 400.
She placed 20th in the WPIAL 2A cross country race this fall with a time of 20 minutes, 16 seconds. She qualified for the PIAA race for a third time.
Playing the field
Two Penn-Trafford field hockey players were selected to the all-WPIAL Class 2A first team.
Senior midfielder Giuliana Youngo and junior midfielder Liz Welsh were the Warriors’ picks.
Penn-Trafford (6-4-2) lost to Fox Chapel in the WPIAL quarterfinals, 2-1, to have its string of championships halted at eight.
Recruiting
• Greensburg Central Catholic senior soccer player Sophia Fisher will continue her playing career at Division II West Liberty.
• Senior Sloane Potter of Greensburg Salem will run track and cross country at Slippery Rock.
• Point Park is where senior Carson Burgh of Franklin Regional will play volleyball.
• Noah Dubyak, a senior at Penn-Trafford, will play golf at Westmoreland County Community College.
• Senior Nick Renda of Franklin Regional will play lacrosse at Marietta.
• Franklin Regional senior Ingrid Varley will continue her lacrosse career at Rhodes College.
