Quarterfinals

7-2 Franklin Regional (19-4) vs. 3-1 Conrad Weiser (25-0-1)

5 p.m. Saturday, Mansion Park Stadium, Altoona

Winner plays: Winner of 7-1 West Allegheny (15-6)/8-1 Allderdice (15-5) on Tuesday in semifinals (time, site TBD)

Coaches: Nick White, Franklin Regional; Derek Long, Conrad Weiser

Players to watch: Emerson Bush, Franklin Regional; Parker Centeno, Conrad Weiser

Corner kicks: This is a rematch of last year’s state quarterfinals when Conrad Weiser blanked the Panthers, 2-0, at Chambersburg. … Conrad Weiser lost to Moon, 1-0, in last year’s semifinals. It was the Scouts’ last loss. They have made the state tournament three straight years. They defeated Thomas Jefferson, 4-1, in the first round as Centeno scored two second-half goals. Cash Stout and Owen Hunt also scored in the win, and Owen Meredith (2), Abu Barrie and Nathan Shields had assists. Conrad’s tie was against Cocalico (1-1). Barrie had both goals in last year’s win over Franklin Regional. The Scouts have 17 shutouts and have only gone to overtime once this season. … Fabrizzio Costa, Cruise Lamanna and Michael Hillebrand found the back of the net for Franklin Regional in a 3-0 win at Hollidaysburg in the first round. Costa and Colton Walker had assists, and Bush posted the team’s 14th shutout of the season. The Panthers last reached the state semifinals in 2019 and lost to Lower Dauphin, 2-0. Franklin Regional could get a rematch with West Allegheny or Allderdice in the semis Monday. West Allegheny beat the Panthers, 2-1, in the WPIAL championship. Franklin Regional and Allderdice split two games during the regular season.
