Winner plays: Winner of 7-Mars (12-5-2)/2-Bethel Park (13-2-3) in semifinals (date, site TBD)

Players to watch: Thomas Bridges, Franklin Regional; Vinny Dipietro, Chartiers Valley

Throw-ins: Franklin Regional blanked Montour in the first round for its 12th shutout of the season and fourth in a row. Michael Hillebrand scored in the first half and Daniel Todd in the second half. The Panthers, who have allowed nine goals all season, reached the WPIAL finals last year and lost to Moon, 3-1. They edged Thomas Jefferson in the quarters, 2-1. The Panthers are 9-1 at home this season. … Chartiers Valley, which finished second in Section 4 behind Moon, stretched its unbeaten streak to eight with a 3-2 win over Trinity in the first round. Dipietro had two goals, and Aiden Ozbry added one for the Colts, who were seeded 14th last year and lost to Mars, 1-0, in the first round.
