Annalyse Bauer
School: Latrobe
Class: Senior
Sport: Soccer
Claim to fame: Bauer became the Latrobe girls’ all-time leader in goals when she reached 62 during a four-goal game in an 8-0 win over Armstrong. All four goals came in the second half.
Bauer surpassed former teammate Robin Reilly, who set the mark last season.
Bauer, an Eastern Michigan commit, followed with a hat trick and an assist in an 8-0 win over Hempfield. She now has 65 career goals.
What was the moment like when you broke the record?
The moment I broke the record was so exciting because that is such a great accomplishment, and I was so happy to be able to do it at home surrounded by my teammates and family.
The team bought you a postgame dinner?
Some of the team went to Dino’s after the game to get together and celebrate.
Did you get to wash off your Gatorade shower before the meal?
So the Gatorade shower was actually water, so, no, I did not get a chance to wash it off.
What is the most memorable goal of your career?
The goal that broke the record. Although it may not have been my best goal, I will definitely never forget it.
Who is the best team you have played this season?
Both Norwin and Penn-Trafford are very tough competition for us this season.
When you began playing at Latrobe, you played in the midfield. What made you change to forward?
I think positional-wise, I have always played the position where I was needed and where I could make the best impact for the team. Coach Jamie (Morrison-Campbell) would assess and put me in different positions accordingly.
The team has only 19 girls. How much has a lack of depth affected the group this season?
Our small numbers definitely make the season more challenging, with low number of subs and not having a ton of people at practices to do some things we would like to do, but one advantage is that we are all very close with each other.
Do you play any other sports?
I used to do track and basketball, but as of right now soccer is my only sport.
What are some of your hobbies?
I really just enjoy spending time with my friends and family and preferably doing something outdoors.
What does it mean to you to be on the Moe Rosensteel Memorial Award watch list?
I am so honored for the opportunity to be on the watch list along with so many great players. I feel so grateful to be considered for the award.
What was the post-practice gender reveal like for coaches Jamie Morrison-Campbell’s and Ross Campbell’s baby this summer?
The gender reveal was completed with a tiny soccer ball that coach Ross kicked, and it exploded right before our break during preseason. Everybody was just so happy and excited for them no matter what the gender ended up being.
What pro athlete would you most like to meet?
I would most like to meet Carli Lloyd because, growing up, that is who I looked up to the most in a soccer aspect.
Did you go to Steelers training camp?
I did not attend Steelers training camp, although I did go to (Friday Night Lights practice) to work for the soccer team and to help fund raise and it was very cool to be so up close with the Steelers players.
Why do you wear No. 6?
I have worn No. 6 all four years of my high school career, and it has grown on me more and more each year. But when initially picking numbers, there was no specific reason.
What was it like doing the promotional video for the Riverhounds Girls Academy?
It was such an amazing experience, and I had so much fun doing it. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities I get thought the Riverhounds Academy.
Jack Sacriponte
School: Latrobe
Class: Senior
Sport: Golf
Claim to fame: Sacriponte is one of the leaders of the unbeaten Latrobe golf team, 15-0 overall and 12-0 in Section 1-3A title. He helped the Wildcats to wins against Penn-Trafford and Pine-Richland, and he was one of four Wildcats to make the WPIAL Class 3A qualifier Monday at the section qualifier Sept. 15 at Glengarry Golf Links.
What are your goals?
I want to place at WPIALs and make states. For the team, I want to help lead the team to a WPIAL title, which would be cool, and qualify for states. We are all working towards that, and I feel we have a shot. It would be special to do that again. I qualified for states as an individual in 2023. I placed 12th in the WPIAL and 20th in the state. Last year, I missed by a shot at qualifying for states. Too many big numbers at Oakmont Country Club.
How are you approaching Monday’s qualifier at Willowbrook Country Club?
I like the course. I want to play smart, and, if I do, I am confident I will advance. I like the course.
Who got you started in golf?
My family plays golf. So it was natural that I played. My grandfather (Bob Reimer) played golf at Thiel, so it is nice to follow his footsteps.
Who do you idolize in golf?
I play at Hannastown Golf Club, and I have learned a lot from watching and playing against Palmer Jackson, Mark Goetz and Nick Turowski. They are my friends and have helped me a lot.
Have you won any tournaments this year?
No, but I finished second in the Westmoreland County Junior, West Penn Juniors and C.R. Miller. I won a lot of Isaly’s tournaments in 2023, but I played in tougher tournaments this year. I feel that will help me a lot.
Have you watched the series “Stick” on TV?
I started watching it and then got busy. I watched the first two episodes and liked it. I must resume it.
What is your favorite golf movie?
I like the original “Happy Gilmore.” It is a good laugh. The second “Happy Gilmore” is not as good.
What is the last movie you have watched?
I watched the newest “Conjuring.” I like horror movies. I do not watch a lot of TV.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
We go to Hilton Head. It is a golf trip for me and my dad (Jim).
Do you have a dream vacation spot?
I would like to go to Hawaii. It looks awesome, and it would be fun playing golf there.
Where do you and your teammates go to for a snack after a match?
A: We go to Dino’s. We have gone so many times that the waitresses know us. I get 10 sweet-and-hot wings and skinny fries.
If your mom was making you your favorite meal, what would it be?
My mom is a great cook. All her meals are amazing, especially her meat loaf.
What type of golf ball do you play?
The Titleist Pro V1.
What is your favorite club?
My driver. It is a PING G440 LST, and I average 300 to 310 yards off the tee.
What is your favorite golf course?
Hannastown is a special place. I also like Oakmont and Kiawah Island’s Ocean course, S.C.
What shot is the toughest for you to accomplish?
I have trouble cutting the ball. My natural shot is a draw. I am a low-ball hitter.
If you could have lunch or dinner with someone famous, who would it be?
Arnold Palmer because he did so much for Latrobe and for golf. I would like to know what he thinks about today’s game.
