MONDAY
Boys soccer
Class A No. 3 Greensburg Central Catholic will play its home opener against Serra Catholic in Section 2-A after the game was postponed last week because of the excessive heat.
Girls soccer
Defending PIAA champ and No. 3-ranked Norwin hosts Latrobe in Section 3-AAAA, and No. 4 Franklin Regional hosts Hampton in 1-AAA.
TUESDAY
Boys soccer
Penn-Trafford welcomes No. 5 Connellsville in one Section 3-AAAA game, and Latrobe visits Norwin in another.
• In Section 4-AAA, No. 3 Franklin Regional visits Thomas Jefferson.
Girls soccer
The top game of the night has No. 2 Greensburg Central Catholic at No. 1 Shady Side Academy in Section 1-A.
The teams met twice in the postseason last year, with GCC winning the WPIAL title game 1-0. Shady Side returned the favor in the PIAA semifinals, 3-0.
Girls volleyball
Latrobe visits Penn-Trafford in Section 3-AAAA, and another match to watch has Franklin Regional at Greensburg Salem in Section 1-AAA.
WEDNESDAY
Girls soccer
Defending WPIAL champion Penn-Trafford will face a challenge at Hempfield in Section 3-AAAA.
• No. 3 Kiski Area hosts No. 4 Franklin Regional in Section 1-AAA, and Southmoreland visits Derry in Section 3-AA.
Girls tennis
The individual postseason opens around the WPIAL with section singles tournaments.
THURSDAY
Boys soccer
Penn-Trafford at Plum looks like the top game in Section 3-AAAA, but don’t overlook Norwin at Hempfield.
• Other top games include: Trinity at Greensburg Salem (3-AAA), No. 3 Mt. Pleasant at Shady Side Academy (2-AA), and Greensburg Central Catholic at The Kiski School (nonsection).
Boys golf
The Westmoreland County Coaches Association Tournament will be played at Latrobe Elks Golf Club. Latrobe senior Brady Pevarnik returns to defend his title.
Girls volleyball
Norwin at Hempfield is the top match in Section 3-AAAA.
FRIDAY
Football
Three county teams will look for upsets against top-5 teams. Hempfield visits No. 3 Central Catholic in Class 6A, Latrobe visits 5A No. 1 Gateway and Penn-Trafford travels to 5A No. 3 McKeesport.
• Only one game features an all-Westmoreland matchup: 3A No. 5 Derry at Mt. Pleasant.
• Other local games: Chartiers Valley at Norwin, Beth-Center at Southmoreland, Greensburg Salem at South Fayette, Jeannette at Avella, West Mifflin at Franklin Regional, Belle Vernon at Laurel Highlands, Yough at Deer Lakes, Leechburg at Greensburg Central Catholic, Jefferson Morgan at Monessen, and Saltsburg at Ligonier Valley.
SATURDAY
Boys soccer
Notable matchups include Hempfield at Penn-Trafford in Section 3-AAAA, Penn Hills at Latrobe (3-AAAA), Franklin Regional at Chartiers Valley (4-AAA) and Burrell at Mt. Pleasant (2-AA).
Girls soccer
Kiski Area hosts Norwin in a nonsection game between former section opponents.
