What to watch for in WPIAL sports for Nov. 29-30, 2025: Top matchups set in area tournaments

On Thursday, family and friends gathered to feast on food.
On Saturday, boys and girls basketball teams across the state gather at Woodland Hills for the 2025 Play 4 Mae showcase.
The two-day event features 17 girls basketball games and seven boys hoops contests.
A total of 12 games each day will take place at both the Woody High main gym and auxiliary gym.
The games feature teams from the WPIAL, City League, District 5, District 3, District 12 and Maryland.
Here is the lineup on Saturday:
Girls: Penn-Trafford vs. Berlin-Brothersvalley in the main gym at 9:30 a.m.
Girls: Aliquippa vs. McKeesport in the aux. gym at 9:30 a.m.
Girls: Allderdice vs. West Mifflin in the main gym at 11:15 a.m.
Girls: Obama Academy vs. Gateway in the aux. gym at 11:15 a.m.
Girls: John Carroll (Md.) vs. Seneca Valley in the main gym at 1 p.m.
Girls: Westinghouse vs. Steel Valley in the aux gym at 1 p.m.
Girls: York Suburban vs. Belle Vernon in the main gym at 2:45 p.m.
Girls: Imhotep Charter vs. Shady Side Academy in the aux. gym at 2:45 p.m.
Boys: York Suburban vs. Gateway in the main gym at 4:30 p.m.
Boys: Riverview vs. Steel Valley in the aux. gym at 4:30 p.m.
Boys: Carrick at Woodland Hills in the main gym at 6:15 p.m.
Boys: Brashear vs. Seton LaSalle in the aux. gym at 6:15 p.m.

Beaver County ball
The three-day boys basketball opening weekend event from Geneva College continues on Saturday and Sunday.
The Geneva College/Lincoln Park tip-off tournament is set with five more games on Saturday and Sunday.
The Saturday schedule:
McKeesport challenges Beaver Falls at 5 p.m.
Obama Academy plays Butler at 6:30 p.m.
Imani Christian battles Moon at 8 p.m.
On Sunday:
Nazareth Prep takes on Beaver Falls at 6 p.m.
Obama Academy visits host Lincoln Park at 7:30 p.m.
There is one girls basketball game on Sunday at Geneva College as Rochester battles Beaver Falls at 4:30 p.m.
Wexford hoops
The three-day girls basketball opening weekend event from North Allegheny continues on Saturday and Sunday.
Following a Trinity win over host North Allegheny on Friday, the North Allegheny tip-off tournament has four more games on Saturday and Sunday.
The Saturday schedule:
Trinity battles Mt. Lebanon at 12:30 p.m.
Greensburg Central Catholic takes on South Fayette at 3:30 p.m.
On Sunday:
Greensburg Central Catholic goes up against Mt. Lebanon at 11:30 a.m.
South Fayette visits host North Allegheny at 2:30 p.m.
