A golden week of golf begins Monday with the final round of the 2025 WPIAL boys individual Class 3A championships.

Fox Chapel junior Carson Kittsley leads the championship field following 18 holes with a 6-under par 66 from the first round at the Willowbrook Country Club last week.

He has a two-stroke lead over sophomore teammate Baron Bitar.

Latrobe senior Jack Sacriponte and West Allegheny sophomore Nico Ward are tied for third place four strokes back after shooting a first-round 70.

Rounding out the top 10 heading into the final round are Indiana senior Austin Schawl (72), Kiski Area senior Max Mottura (72), Belle Vernon senior Jack Edwards (72), Bethel Park junior Joey Boff (72), North Allegheny senior Colin Ward (73) and Thomas Jefferson sophomore Ty Hartman (73).

The final round is set to begin at 9 a.m. at Butler Country Club in Butler.

The final round of the boys 2A individual championships take place Tuesday and the girls 3A and 2A final rounds will be held Wednesday.

Soccer stretch run begins

The chase for section titles and district playoff berths really heats up as we begin the final two weeks of the regular season in WPIAL girls soccer.

Monday marks another busy night on the pitch, with only one match with first place up for grabs.

In Section 4-2A, Mt. Pleasant hosts Deer Lakes.

The front-running Vikings are 5-0 in the section and 8-2-1 overall.

Mt. Pleasant has won two in a row and six of its last seven matches.

The visiting Lancers are right behind them at 5-1 in the section and an overall record of 10-1.

Deer Lakes has won five straight since suffering its only loss of the season at home Sept. 8 to Mt. Pleasant, 2-1.

Looking to clinch

On a busy night of district girls soccer section action, several teams can join the 20 schools that have already clinched a WPIAL playoff berth.

Others can also clinch on Monday, but these schools control their own destiny and can qualify for the playoffs without any help.

In Class 4A, Penn-Trafford, Latrobe and North Allegheny are in with wins.

In Class 3A, Mars, Montour, Thomas Jefferson, Franklin Regional can clinch with victories.

In Class 2A, Keystone Oaks, North Catholic, Central Valley head to the postseason if they are triumphant.

In Class A, OLSH, Freedom, Brownsville and Seton LaSalle punch their playoff ticket with a ‘W’ on Monday.
