Drier weather — albeit exhaustingly hot weather — has helped the artificial turf project gain momentum at McKee Stadium in Jeannette.
With improved conditions of late, the installation of the all-purpose turf could begin this week on the decades-old field, which had a natural-grass playing surface since 1927.
Superintendent Matt Jones said significant work has been done on the base layer of the project.
So what will the field look like when it is finished? The district provided a preview.
“Jeannette” will be written across one end zone and “Jayhawks” across the other.
The traditional Jayhawks logo will be at midfield.
