While major changes will be in the air with a classification increase starting in the 2016-2017 school year, there was concern about where the district would play its championship games with the increase in title games. However outside of a split in football, the WPIAL Finals in several sports will remain at the same venues that have been hosting the title events.

The WPIAL had announced earlier this year that the 6-A, 5-A, 4-A and 3-A football title games would be played at Heinz Field on Friday, November 18th. Now the WPIAL Board of Control has voted to play the 2-A and 1-A football championship games at Joe Walton Stadium on the campus of Robert Morris University in Moon Township in a doubleheader on either Friday, November 25th or Saturday, November 26th. Geneva College and North Allegheny High School had also submitted bids to host the two title games.

All twelve WPIAL boys and girls basketball championship games will remain at the Petersen Events Center at the University of Pittsburgh. The title games will be spread out over three days on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

All six WPIAL baseball championship games will be played at CONSOL Energy Park in Washington with tripleheaders over two days. The same format will be used for the district softball finals that will remain at Lilly Field on the campus of California University of Pennsylvania.

The eight WPIAL soccer championship matches will be played at Highmark Stadium in Station Square in Pittsburgh and will be spread out over three days on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
