Five seasons ago, the second-longest WPIAL team championship streak came to an end.

Between 2004-2018, Sewickley Academy dominated the boys tennis courts, winning 15 straight WPIAL Class 2A championships.

The following season in 2019, the school decided to move up in classification and the Panthers lost in the opening round of the 3A playoffs.

That same year, Fox Chapel won a fourth straight 3A boys tennis championship.

No school has repeated in the highest classification since.

North Allegheny will try to buck that trend this season in Class 3A while a new champion will be crowned in 2A with two-time champion Sewickley Academy moving back to 3A this season.
